'Wow' were the words I muttered under my breath when Dyspnea's Reptilia Collection appeared on the runway.

The Perth label joined thirteen other local creatives in Perth Fashion Festival 2013's WA Designer Collections. While each collection was amazing, Dyspnea was a standout.

Dyspnea was established in 2012 by three young designers and close friends Aimee-Cherie Kendall, Jameen Zalfen and Rachel Motteram. They met while studying an Advanced Diploma in Fashion Design and Technology course at TAFE.

Their youthful women's label is empowering, individual and downright cool. Using hand-picked leather skins, Swarovski crystals and unique high quality textiles, each intricate garment is made here in Australia. While not always wearable but ever-so-sexy, Dyspnea is definitely one to watch. Perhaps they are the next ready-to-wear Jaime Lee?
