What's On: April '16
I am spending my first few weeks of April in the United States but once I arrive back in Melbourne I want to get straight back into life there. Here's what is happening this month.
There are exhibitions galore at the moment. Here are the ones that I'm excited about.
Bendigo Art Gallery always puts on excellent exhibitions and the current Marilyn Monroe collection is another worth the trip. Presented by Twentieth Century Fox and the Bendigo Art gallery, there are costumes, personal clothing and artefacts which have been drawn from private collections around the world and have never been seen before in Australia.
Bendigo Art Gallery. 5 March 2016 - 10 July 2016.
One hundred and twenty works by ninety designers will be on display at the Ian Potter Centre at the National Gallery of Victoria for 200 Years of Australian Fashion exhibition. The collection will feature early Victorian dressmaking to current contemporary designers including Dion Lee, Ellery, Romance Was Born and Toni Maticevski.
Ian Potter Centre: National Gallery of Victoria, Federation Square. 5 March 2016 - 31 July 2016.
The Dressmaker Costume Exhibition will be on display at Rippon Lea House and Gardens in Elsternwick from Friday the 22nd April until 3rd July 2016. Fifty costumes designed by Marion Boyce and Margot Wilson will be featured. Tickets ($20) can be bought here or at the door.
Also on Friday 29th April, Friday 20th May and Friday 24th June, from 6pm-11pm, there will be 1950s Pop-up Bar where guests, dressed in their 1950s best, will enjoy drinks, music and entry to the exhibition. Food trucks will also be in attendance. Buy your tickets ($30) to the 1950s Pop-up Bar here.
