Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants

Purchasing second-hand or vintage has become something of the norm. As an advocate for sustainable living (more about that here), I am overjoyed at the fact! I believe that we should all buy less and buy quality. Not only is purchasing second-hand/vintage great for the environment, the standard of production and fabrication is often maintained in older pieces too.

The wide-leg pants I am wearing here were a second-hand discovery made at Awoke Vintage store in Williamsburg with Nadine from The Essentialist. Surprisingly the pants fit both Nadine and I perfectly. We wear different sizes and have entirely different body shapes and heights yet the pants mould to each of us in their own way.

Nadine is a lithe, average-height beauty who wears between a 4 to a 6. On Nadine, the pants sit neatly on her waist, falling down the leg in a relaxed French/boyfriend pants sort of way. She wears them with sneakers and looks super cool. I, on the other hand, am on the petite (aka shorter) side, with curves and boobs and wear between a 6 to an 8. On me they hug around my waist and derrière, then fall down the leg just ending a touch above the ground when in heels.

I never thought it could be possible to share a piece of clothing with someone of a different shape and look perfect on both of us. These pants are vintage at its best and a steal at $68. Perfect in shape and fit, they have become a favourite pair of pants for both of us and consequently they have become our own 'sisterhood of the travelling pants'.

SHOP THE LOOK

I've gone for an effortless French-look here with a Breton striped t-shirt from UniqloSaben tote bag*, vintage navy pants from Awoke Vintage store in Williamsburg, Rayban sunnies from Mr Porter (stolen from the husband) and rings and earrings from Stephens and Miller.

The difficult thing about vintage is that they are often 'one of a kind' which is partially why I love it. But it makes it harder to provide links for you. Many of you have reached out to me about where to find similar navy pants so I have had a look and found a few pant suggestions below from Shopbop and Camilla and Marc (on SALE).

*Shop 10% off all Saben bags with my code LEILADYLEI10 and receive FREE SHIPPING. Collection also available in David Jones in Australia.
