MFW Town Hall Runway One - David Jones

It was a night of trends, statement accessories and glamour at Melbourne Fashion Week's Town Hall Runway 1 presenting David Jones. There was suiting and embellished mini dresses to prints, stripes and checks. Things are looking good for Spring!

I love the western trend coming through with the flowing printed midi dresses styled with snakeskin boots and the scarves woven into the braid gets me excited. As expected, I also love the suiting that is everywhere this season. Suits are so classic. The cost per wear of a suit is the selling point I believe - you can wear them as a combo or wear them separately. Too easy!

Spring Racing style was a large focus of the runway, providing inspiration to all race-goers. It was wonderful to see diversity on the runway as well from the gorgeous Jess Rae King representing plus size girls to models of different ages appearing on the runway too. Refreshing, relatable and inspiring. Scroll down to see a snapshot of the different trends coming through this season.

Let's go west

The Western trend began the David Jones runway last night highlighting printed midi dresses, leather jackets, snake skin boots, scarves and tasselled accessories.

EVERYONE LOVES A SUIT

Suiting of all varieties appeared on the runway. From checks and neutrals, to sharp black suits and colour blocked numbers. Effortless and easy to style, it's the (two)-piece you should invest this season.

Spring Racing Inspiration

If the David Jones runway is anything to go by, any style goes this Spring Racing season. Feminine lace in white and pastels is juxtaposed by vibrant power suits and stilettos. In terms of headwear, straw boaters and headbands dominated the runway. While mini dresses will always make an appearance, midi dresses were a key shape.
