Bread in Common Fremantle

Tucked away in a converted warehouse in Fremantle, Bread in Common is fast becoming a favourite spot to dine in Perth. Owner Nic Trimboli, of Gordon Street Garage, E'cucina, Balthazar, one half of Il Lido and Duende, along with his partner, baker Gotthard Bauer from the famous Yallingup Woodfired Bakery, certainly know what makes a great eatery. It is all about the enjoyment of food and company at Bread in Common.

Wanderlust | Mekel

Mekel's WANDERLUST exhibition ran as part of Urban Couture 2014. Local fashion illustrator Kelly Coates' work always transports me to a world of fashion, flowing gowns and beautiful girls. Her dreamy use of the black pen and splash of watercolour is perfect. I now own two pieces from Mekel. A framed original of J.Mendel lime green couture gown from this exhibition which was a lovely belated birthday gift from Mr CK and a limited edition print from Mekel's Perth Fashion Festival exhibition last year.

Whisk me away on a Margaret River Escape

This past weekend Mr CK and I went to stay down south in Margaret River. With the rain pitter-pattering around us, all we could do was relax and be whisked away into the land of food and wine.

A three hour drive from Perth, Margaret River is the ultimate destination for gastronomy and wine. With so many options on hand it's hard to know where to go. In my next blog post I will give you my top picks for a great Margaret River weekend getaway.

Wild Side at Perth Zoo

I visited Perth Zoo for the first time last week and was so impressed by the grounds and animal enclosures. When you think of a zoo, you often think of concrete jungles where the animals are deprived of their natural habitat but Perth Zoo is nothing like that. Quite the contrary. Their enclosures are lush and spacious and the animals are encouraged to act as they would in the wild whether it is foraging for food, or creating nests for their young with natural materials. Perth zoo may not have as many animals as other zoos. However they have given their animals copious amounts of space and have invested time and energy into creating natural beautiful homes for them.

I would highly recommend visiting Perth Zoo. It's a delight!

Rockcliffe Winery Escape

This past weekend my blogger friends Bonnie Friday, Nadine from Modern Girls in Vintage Pearls, Liz and I were invited by Rockcliffe Winery in Denmark, WA to attend their annual Harvest dinner. We set out early on the five hour journey down south, making our way through gorgeous country Australia. Upon our arrival at Rockcliffe winery, we were shown behind the scenes of how wine is made, its journey from grape to bottle. It is a fascinating process, I have a deeper appreciation for wine makers (and wine) after seeing it.

Perth, you beauty!

I have been living in Perth, Western Australia for six months. Everyday I'm wowed by how gorgeous this place is. Perth has everything on offer; the beach, the weather, the food, the bars and even Chanel opened up in the CBD last year (finally, after spending seven years searching for the right location!).
