Bread in Common Fremantle

Tucked away in a converted warehouse in Fremantle, Bread in Common is fast becoming a favourite spot to dine in Perth. Owner Nic Trimboli, of Gordon Street Garage, E'cucina, Balthazar, one half of Il Lido and Duende, along with his partner, baker Gotthard Bauer from the famous Yallingup Woodfired Bakery, certainly know what makes a great eatery. It is all about the enjoyment of food and company at Bread in Common. Long, friendly tables of strangers share simple, honest, well-cooked food. The kitchen food philosophy is about locally sourced seasonal produce and house made products. And the menu reflects this by how often it changes. They bake delicious traditional rustic breads which are available to take home and on the menu ($2 per person) to be enjoyed with house churned butter (50c) or smoked zucchini and sesame spread ($3.50).

For the best experience, I would suggest dining with four or more people, that way you can sample more dishes.

Beginning the meal with their wood-fired loaves and spreads is a must. For shared mains; the lamb ribs, mint, chilli and black garlic are tender and delicious ($18), the snapper, chargrilled watermelon, avocado and chorizo is light and refreshing ($29) and spice rub kangaroo, hot sauce and spinach ($24) is a winner.

For sides; the duck fat roast potatoes with rosemary are crunchy and oh-so-good ($11), the green salad is perfectly dressed ($8) and the courgette, quinoa, feta and mint ($18) is a great accompaniment.

For dessert, I would recommend trying everything! An example of what's on offer? Peanut mousse, chocolate ice-cream, raspberry and oreo ($18), perfect for the chocolate lover.

A great place for all hours of the day, perfect for a celebratory dinner or to take visitors, Bread in Common has it all.
