Give a Frock to support women experiencing homelessness
There are more than 22,000 Victorians experiencing homelessness, with almost half of them being women. Over 500 women access Sacred Heart’s The Women’s House for support. These women are often experiencing difficulties including family violence, poverty, sexual abuse, physical and mental illness and drug and alcohol use.
Give a Frock Campaign
This year’s campaign includes two ambassadors, fashion columnist, reporter and stylist at the Herald Sun and Weekly Times, Anna Byrne and fashion-stylist Elliot Garnaut. We will also see an iconic new op shop location on Chapel Street open.
“Anyone can easily get involved with ‘Give A Frock’ by donating outfits, hosting their own ‘frock’ party, by shopping at any of Sacred Heart Mission’s op shops or attending any of our fashion events,” Elliot says
“By gathering your friends together, donating a quality dress, or even shoes - you are directly raising funds for Sacred Heart Mission and helping to provide a welcoming, safe space to women in our community who need it most."
Thursday, 1 August- Wednesday, 28 August; ‘Give A Frock’ parties: Host a party at home or at work. Register here and invite your friends and community to ‘Give A Frock’ by donating dresses, handbags and shoes at your event.
Saturday, 17 August; Donation Day: Visit the ambassadors and personally donate your goods at any one of the 12 stores. Plus, why not have a look around while you’re there?
Saturday, 31 August- Sunday, 15 September; ‘Give A Frock’ pop-up op shop opens at the newest op shop location at 262 Chapel Street in Windsor from 10am-6pm, just in time for the spring racing season. A fabulous collection of high-end fashion, donated designer handbags, shoes, accessories and other unique finds collected throughout the campaign will be on sale.
